Details of a Composition CompetitionSpacialisation is becoming an increasingly prominent aspect of compositional reflction. By thematicising our aural perception
of space we can, through the differentiation of a multitude of perceptual qualities, discover new categories of musical formation. It is the aim of the “Klangraum- - Raumklang” both to document and to extend
this existing process. Within this context the IMD invites composers to enter a competition for spacialised compositions. The works will have to deal with a specifically determined situation: the performance
will take place in the foyer of the EUMETSAT building in Darmstadt. (Plans of the building can be obtained from the IMD, visits can be organized through the IMD).Compositions
should have a duration no more than 15 minutes, instrumental combinations can be freely selcted from the following: flute(incl picc/alto/bass) - clarinet/sax. - bassoon - french horn - trumpet -
accordeon - percussion - violin - viola - violoncello - doublebass. A jury will select 2 - 3 entries for performances by the MUTARE ENSEMBLE on July 13th 2002 The composers of the works
chosen will be guests of the IMD for the duration of the summercourse. Deadline: may 15th 2002
Rehearsels: july 6th - 13th 2002 Concert: july 13th 2002 The composer of the works chosen are obliged to
